What Does God Mean When He Says His Followers/Children Are In The World But Not Of It?

The Lord tells us in the Bible that we are in the world but not of it, those of us that follow Him. The world systems are different than God’s systems.

1. World Systems Is Biased To It’s Own

2. God offers genuine love vs greed that the world offers

3. God has a system that is truly just and right

4. God offers protection from the evil

John 17:14-16 (KJV)

14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

John 15:19 (KJV)

19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.

John 8:22-24 (KJV)

22 Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. 23 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

1 John 4:5 (KJV)

5 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them. 1 John 2:15-17 (KJV)

15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
